An Open Letter To NHS Staff...

We think you are amazing! We have so much respect for everything you do, but today we would like to speak to you about body piercing. We are worried about the advice you give surrounding body piercing, and we would like to speak to you about it, and work with you. We often see customers who have been to their doctor regarding a piercing, and have been provided with information we would disagree with. We usually see that they have been given advice to treat a piercing like any other cut, scrape or wound, and to ignore the aftercare advice we have provided. We also often see first aid being applied to piercings just like any other cut, scrape or wound. Piercings are not like a 'normal' cut, scrape or wound, and need to be treated as something completely different. We know you know what you are doing, but we need you to trust us when we say, we know what we are doing, too! How many times a day do you see a body piercing? Because we see them all day every day, we spend ou...

Am I Ready For My New Piercing?

This week we want to talk to you about preparing for your piercing, to help you know what to expect, but to also help you be as ready as possible for the piercing to make healing and looking after it as smooth as possible, and to make the whole process as pain free as possible! 1. What piercing do I want?   It's important to know what piercing you want! But some more questions to ask us while you are deciding are... How long does this piercing take to heal? If the piercing takes an estimated 6 months to heal, but you are planning on going travelling in 3 months, maybe it's best to wait! Do I have the right anatomy? Not every piercing suits every single person - let us take a look and advise, remember, there's always an alternative Will I have to remove it for school/work? It's always a shame to have to remove a piercing when you wanted to have it done, it's always worth checking with your school/place of work that they aren't going to make you take it ou...

Why You Don't Want Your Piercing Numbing

Do you numb piercings? We get asked on an almost daily basis if we numb your piercings before we perfom them, and the answer is simple, no...we don't. We don't numb any piercings prior to performing them. We understand that for some people that would mean they choose to go to an alternative studio, who will numb their piercings, as we are sure they think it will make the whole thing less painful, and much easier...it's numb, right? But it's not that simple, we know from personal experience that topical numbing often doesn't remove the pain element of having a piercing performed. What does reduce pain is going to a piercer who understands how to use the tools they have, how to use a needle in the correct manner (that's right, there is a wrong way to use them!), and one who is using the correct style of jewellery...internally threaded jewellery will hurt a lot less than externally threaded jewellery to insert into a new piercing! It's also good to note t...
